Born May 6, 1961 in Lexington, Kentucky, George Clooney spent almost
a decade in acting obscurity before landing the role of television's
hottest heartthrob in the medical drama ER in 1994.
Early on, Clooney's only dream was to play professional baseball, but
following a failed tryout with the Cincinnati Reds he turned to acting
with the help of his father, broadcaster Nick Clooney and his aunt,
singer and actress Rosemary Clooney.
Beginning in television
commercials, Clooney signed on with Warner Bros. in a series of
supporting roles, most notably in The Facts of Life, Roseanne and
Sisters. His fame and fortune finally assured with his appearance on
ER, Clooney left the cast after four years to pursue a career in film.
His more notable movie roles have since included The Perfect Storm
with Mark Wahlberg, and the remake of the 1960 "Rat Pack" hit, Ocean's
