Colin Farrell
Biography
Name : Colin James Farrell
Profession : Actor
Date of Birth : May 31, 1976
Place of Birth : Castleknock, Ireland
Son of footballer Eamon Farrell, Colin Farrell was born
in Dublin, on March 31, 1976, and early on planned to follow
in the footsteps of his famous father. However, while still
in his teens, his sister enrolled in acting classes and her
curious brother followed suit.
With his first claim to fame in his native Ireland, the
young actor was cast as Col Farrell in the TV series
Ballykissangel and soon his portrayal as working-class Danny
Byrne led to other acting roles on British television.
Farrell's first film breakthrough role came in Tigerland,
which generally received mediocre reviews, but garnered the
actor unanimous praise for his 1999 performance as a young
Texan in a Louisiana bootcamp. A string of subsequent roles
followed, including appearances in American Outlaws;
opposite Bruce Willis in Hart's War; with Tom Cruise in
Minority Report; as the comic book villain Bullseye in
Daredevil; and with a near-solo performance in Joel
Schumacher's thriller Phone Booth.
In 2004, the long-awaited release of the historical epic,
Alexander, opened to mixed reviews with brickbats all around
(though more for it's direction by Oliver Stone). Most
recently, the actor retreated to the small screen with a
very successful appearance as host of Saturday Night Live.
Farrell's future projects include the Depression-era
drama, Ask the Dust, and taking on the starring role as
explorer John Smith in The New World.
On a personal note, the Farrell and model Kim Bordenave
are parents of a baby boy, James, born in 2003 while the
Irish actor was in Morocco filming Alexander.
